Kathmandu. IME Khalti Limited (Khalti) has introduced a super wallet facility for all its users. This service, operated in partnership with Global IME Bank, is Nepal’s first digital wallet facility that provides users with direct interest on their wallet balance. With this, Khalti has become the first digital payment platform to usher in the neo-banking era in Nepal.

Previously, this badge facility was available only to a limited number of users who migrated from IME Pay. But now, eliminating this limitation, Khalti is extending the facility of Super Wallet to all its KYC verified individual users. With this, Khalti wallet is now not just a payment tool for users, but a modern saving tool for the users.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabin Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of IME Khalti shared, “A huge population in Nepal is still out of the reach of formal banking system. We are addressing this inequality through Super Wallet. Now, every Nepali — whether he is a farmer in a village, a small businessman in a city, a worker toiling abroad, or a student who spends a little money — will have every penny he or she has to spend for him. Even a student will be able to experience first-hand how their small amount of money is growing, which will inculcate in them a healthy habit of saving from an early age. Khalti is no longer just a medium of digital payment – it is an experience platform to teach Nepalese a culture of financial discipline and saving. This is not only a commercial success for Khalti, it is also a decisive step towards financial democratization and financial literacy in Nepal. ”
