ICANN and Tig collaborate to provide free cloud accounting to member firms and students

KATHMANDU: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) and Tigg, a cloud accounting platform, have signed a collaboration to expand the use of digital technology in the accounting sector. The agreement was signed by CA Bimal Dangol, Executive Director of ICAN and Ramesh KC, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tig.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramesh KC, CEO of Tigg Pvt. Ltd., said that the partnership will facilitate accountants and students to become familiar with the latest cloud accounting system and facilitate them to develop practical digital skills.

Similarly, Executive Director of ICAN, Bimal Dangol expressed his confidence that the collaboration with world-class software developed in Nepal would further encourage the use of digital technology in the accounting sector. According to him, this collaboration will provide an opportunity to the accountants to work in the digital system and the students will be able to gain practical experience of modern accounting system.

Under the collaboration, eligible ICAN member firms will be able to use TIG’s Basic Package for free for life. Similarly, eligible ICAN students will be able to use the ‘Student Edition’ of TIG for study and practical practice.

Member firms that get free access will be able to use Tig for accounting and financial management of their own organization. Through this, account management in the cloud, user access according to the role, VAT and TDS management, preparation of financial and accounting reports, bank reconciliation, etc.

Member firms registered with ICAN will have to create a demo account on TIG and apply online to convert it to a version that can be used for free for life. Once the application is received, the authentication will be done based on the membership details of ICAN. After the verification is complete, the relevant demo account will be converted to the free version, according to Teague.

Similarly, through the ‘Student Edition’ available to ICAN students, they will be able to practice accounting processes including transaction entry, financial reporting, VAT and TDS. This is expected to help the students gain practical experience of modern accounting systems along with theoretical studies.

The Student Edition will be available for study and practice only. It will not be used for commercial accounting management, resale or other business purposes for clients or other businesses. According to Tigg, as the accounting sector is moving towards cloud systems, automation, real-time financial information and digital collaboration, it is important to introduce accounting professionals and students to such technologies.

The collaboration between ICANN and Tig is expected to contribute towards developing a tech-savvy and digitally empowered accounting community in Nepal.
