Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Banking services will remain open even on public holidays in view of the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal, has directed the banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to open their banking services during public holidays as well. According to the central bank, this directive has been issued at the request of the Election Commission to resume banking services.
The government has declared a public holiday on March 3, 21 and 22 in view of the election to the members of the House of Representatives. Likewise, the government has declared a public holiday on March 2 in view of the Holi festival in 56 districts of the hilly region and 21 districts of the Terai region on March 2.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has directed the commercial banks to continue payment and revenue payment on these public holidays.
Likewise, the apex court has directed the banks and financial institutions operating bank accounts for the election publicity campaign to provide banking services including the payment of cash and other instruments to political parties and candidates.
