Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Himalayan Everest Insurance Company has planted 500 tree saplings in the premises of Dhalkeshwor Mahadev Temple, giving priority to environment conservation and greenery. The company planted the saplings in solidarity with the ’10 lakh tree plantation and conservation campaign’ being run by the Forum in collaboration with the Lumbini World Peace Forum.
The company has provided financial assistance to purchase 200 guava saplings and 150 amla and lemon saplings under the corporate social responsibility programme.
The program organized by Lumbini Global Peace Forum on the occasion of World Biodiversity Week 2026 was attended by Anju Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of Himalayan Everest Insurance Company and employees of the company. Member Secretary of the National Trust for Nature Conservation, Dr. Chiranjivi Prasad Pokharel, Dhalkeshwor Mahadev, President of Vedic Sanatan Dharma Samrakshan Sanstha Raj Kumar Thapa and local communities were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the program, CEO Shrestha said that afforestation is not only a formal program but will also play an important role in maintaining environmental balance, creating a clean environment and expanding greenery in local areas. Expressing the belief that such campaigns would play an important role in the conservation of biodiversity, he urged the Temple Conservation Organization to pay special attention to the protection and regular care of the saplings.
According to Basu Gautam, founder and chairperson of Lumbini World Peace Forum, the mega campaign is being carried out with the participation of the local community in the unused vacant lands of local bodies, community schools, various temples and communities.
