Kathmandu. The Health Insurance Board (HIB) has warned of cancelling the agreement with the health institutions associated with the health insurance programme if it is found making unnecessary referrals.
The Insurance Board has issued a circular in the name of all service providing health institutions. “The agreement will be suspended or annulled as per Schedule 8 (4)(c) of the Health Insurance Rules-2075 if unnecessary referrals are made,” the circular reads. ’
The circular has directed the service provider organizations providing services by signing an agreement with the Insurance Board not to refer the services being carried out in their organization by ignoring the service being done in violation of the Health Insurance Act, Regulations and Dispatch Procedure.
“If you are unable to provide service, you may be referred to the nearest health institution by filling up a referral letter as per Schedule 9 of the Regulation,” reads the circular.
