After the complaints of the insured people started increasing, the Insurance Board has again issued a circular stating that its serious attention has been drawn to the fact that some service providing health institutions have asked the insured to buy medicines in cash or bring medicines from outside shops. “There have been widespread complaints that some health institutions have been asking the insured to purchase medicines and medical products included in various packages of insurance service at their premises at pharmacies or outside medicine shops in cash,” the circular reads. ’

Likewise, some service providing health institutions have also complained that the insured have to take time in advance to avail health insurance services and discriminate against the insured. “Therefore, if such acts are found to be repeated, the agreement will be terminated,” the circular warned.

In addition to this, the insurance board has also directed to make a claim at the minimum rate of the hospital if the rate of medicines, medical products and all services is less than the rate mentioned in the insurance facility bag and the claims can be claimed in the Insurance Management Information System through API.
