Kathmandu. Prime Minister Walendra (Balen) Shah has said the government was ready to support for the development of organic agriculture sector.
Prime Minister Shah said this during a meeting with office-bearers of ‘Organic Association Nepal’ at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar today. Prime Minister Shah directed the bodies concerned to establish an internationally recognized Organic Agriculture Products Certification Agency in Nepal as international certification of organic products is expensive.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister pledged to promote organic agriculture in the country by controlling chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He also directed the bodies concerned to provide grants to private industries and cooperatives producing organic fertilizers.
