Kathmandu. The government has dissolved all 12 trade unions of civil and health services.
Issuing a notice today, the Department of Labour and Occupational Security under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security said that the trade unions of all national-level civil and health service employees operating in the country have been scrapped. As per the new ordinance recently issued by the government, all national-level trade unions registered with the Department under the Civil Service Act-2049 (second amendment, 2064) and Nepal Health Service Act-2053 (fourth amendment, 2070) have been dismissed.
Department’s Spokesperson Engineer Maninath Gop said the decision to scrap the registration of these unions based on the provision of Ordinance No. 7 of 2083 BS ‘Ordinance Designed to Amend Some Nepal Acts’ as the main legal basis.
With this decision, the national-level employees trade unions registered under sub-section (2) of Section 53 of the Civil Service Act, 2049 (Second Amendment, 2064) have been dissolved. The civil servants who were suspended are Nepal Civil Service Employees Association (Registration No. 214), Nepal Civil Service Employees Union (Registration No. 215), Nepal National Civil Service Employees Organization (Registration No. 221), Nepal Madhesi Civil Employees Forum (Registration No. 231), Nepal Health Workers Association (Registration No. 272), Madhesi Health Workers Forum Nepal (Registration No. 284), Unified Government Employees Organization, Nepal (Registration No. 523) and Independent Civil Service Employees Organization Nepal (Registration No. 570).
