Govt directs trade union offices to shut down employees

Kathmandu. The government has ordered the trade union offices to close down and deploy employees in the posts.

The directive was issued by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration through a circular today. “The Ordinance made to amend some Nepal Acts, 2083 has abolished the provisions related to trade unions in Clause 53 of the Civil Service Act, 2049,” reads the circular issued to all ministries, departments, commissions, secretariats and bodies. ’

The ministry has also urged the concerned offices to take back the government property if the committees and their employees have used offices, offices, vehicles and other facilities for the purpose of the trade unions. “We request the government to make arrangements to depute the employees of the committees of different levels of the trade unions to work as per the prescribed posts,” reads the circular.
