Kathmandu. The Special Provisions Ordinance on the Removal of Public Officials, 2083 has been promulgated. President Ram Chandra Poudel issued the ordinance on Saturday.
The ordinance will amend 110 different laws. As a result, political appointments in various bodies will be canceled. As many as 1,594 office-bearers working on the basis of political appointment in these bodies will be relieved of their posts.
The ordinance will not allow Nepal Rastra Bank and state-owned banks to operate. This means that the Nepal Rastra Bank Act is not included in the ordinance.
The post of Governor Bishwanath Poudel has been saved after the NRB Act was not promulgated. The government has also decided to reserve the posts of office-bearers appointed by the government in public sector banks (Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nepal Bank and Agricultural Development Bank).
