Kathmandu. Study of Independent Power Producers Association (IPPAN) Ganesh Karki has said that private sector projects are not being completed on time.

Speaking at a post-budget discussion organised by the Association of Economic Journalists of Nepal (NAFIJ) here on Saturday, Karki said the government should pay attention to the lack of capital as the IPO could not be issued. “There are doubts that the energy sector will not move forward. The rule that ipo can be issued only after production has caused problems in this. It is said that 61 billion rupees will be needed. At present, 365 projects have been licensed,” he said.

Karki said 5,600 MW projects have been licensed and projects with a capacity of more than 17,000 MW are in the run-of-the-river. “The rules of buying electricity only if desired may not result in consumption of electricity generated. There is also some problem with the khanal commission’s suggestion,” he said.
