KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited has started the construction of its state-of-the-art corporate building at Uttargate, Kathmandu. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Chief Executive Officer Surendra Raj Regmi formally inaugurated the construction of the building by performing the foundation puja (Bhumi Pujan) in a ceremony held at the construction site on Friday.
Spread over an area of about 1,46,000 square feet, this building will have a total of 12 floors. It will have a two-storey underground basement for car parking, a ground floor and nine floors above. The bank wants to make it a model commercial building in the valley by incorporating eco-friendly infrastructure, modern architecture and modern technology.
Speaking after the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman Dhakal said that this building will be the most modern and largest structure among the corporate offices of commercial banks. He said that the new building will be modern and well-equipped and will become a model building of Kathmandu Valley. He said that with the construction of the modern building, the bank’s services will be more convenient, technology-friendly and effective.
Similarly, CEO Regmi said that the bank has given priority to modern engineering from parking to interior structure keeping in mind the service recipients and employees.
According to him, the building is being designed to be completely energy-saving, rainwater collection and treatment system to avoid water problems and solar energy (solar) will be installed to reduce electricity consumption, which will make proper use of natural resources and also help in environmental balance.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer Suman Pokharel along with senior management team and employees of the bank were present on the occasion.
Global IME Bank has been awarded the title of ‘Bank of the Year 2014’, ‘Best Internet Bank 2016’, and ‘Best Bank Nepal’ in the years 2024, 2025 and 2026.
