Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal, who was in charge of administrative command of the district during the agitation that took place on September 7.
The high-level probe commission formed to probe the Genji protest had recommended to file a case against the then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal. He was the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu when the demonstrations were held on September 23 and 24.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, he was arrested from Suvidhanagar.
He was under pressure to take action against him for ordering the firing of teenagers in Baneshwor. In his statement to the probe commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, Rijal claimed that he did not order the firing of the bullet with a deadly weapon.
The newly formed government is making arrests against those found guilty on the basis of the report of the inquiry commission.
