Kathmandu. Singapore is the only country in Asia to be included in the 2026 FM Resilience Index (2026) from Commercial Property Insurance Company FM. Singapore ranks third globally.
The index is now in its 13th year. This year, it ranks 130 countries and territories based on the resilience of their business environments.
Singapore’s high ranking is attributed to its stable governance, robust digital infrastructure, and advanced engineering standards. Elsewhere in Asia, India has continued its upward trend. Eastern India has moved up three places to 94th, northern India has moved up 4 places to 100th position and Central and Western India has moved up four places to 76th position.
Japan ranks 32nd, backed by a mature power grid and robust cybersecurity capabilities. South Korea ranked 34th, benefiting from advanced digital resilience and logistics networks.
Elsewhere in Asia, Mongolia dropped 17 places to 108th, while Iran dropped to 125th due to poor inflation and low internet usage.
Countries in the top 10
According to the 2026 index, Denmark is the strongest business environment in the world. It is followed by Luxembourg, Singapore, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Finland and Belgium.
According to Commercial Property Insurance FM, these results send a clear message to Asian business leaders that as risks change rapidly, flexibility is becoming a key competitive advantage. Leo Kushner, director of FM Business Intelligence, said: “Businesses could be harmed by what they don’t see, especially as climate and operational risks change faster than expected. ’
According to Kushner, the 2026 Index provides leaders with the objective insights they need to manage volatility, understand variable risks, and make stronger strategic decisions. While Europe and the Americas continue to top global rankings, Asia’s continued improvement underscores the region’s growing importance as a strong foundation for conducting global trade. –Agency
