Kathmandu. The floods from China have caused havoc in different parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
The floods have caused a huge loss of life and property in the affected areas of these 3 districts. Rescue operations are underway in these areas.
Meanwhile, today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers took 10 decisions targeting the flood-affected areas.
Here are the decisions
- The Ministry of Infrastructure Development will reopen the roads disrupted by the incident and make arrangements for drinking water in the area as soon as possible.
- To provide immediate financial assistance as per the prevailing laws to the families of the deceased.
- To give the responsibility to the Finance Minister to coordinate the mobilization of financial resources required for the immediate operation and reconstruction of damaged public structures and physical infrastructures.
- To declare the local levels of the disaster-affected districts as the disaster risk zone for a period of three months as per Section 32 of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, 2074.
On behalf of the Government of Nepal, the Government of Nepal expresses deep sorrow over the loss of life and property due to the devastating floods in the Rasuwagadhi and lower bank areas of Rasuwa district on August 23, 2083 and pay heartfelt tribute to the people who lost their lives in the incident.TAG_OPEN_li_28 Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. Wishing speedy recovery to the injured.
The Ministry TAG_OPEN_li_27 of Health and Sanitation, Nepal Army and government hospitals will make arrangements for free medical treatment to the injured in the incident.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence shall make arrangements for the immediate rescue of the injured and displaced persons and shift them to safer places.TAG_OPEN_li_26 Nepal Army and private sector helicopters will be mobilized for this purpose. Directive the Home Minister to mobilize all necessary vehicles (including helicopters) for the rescue operation.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) and the concerned Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee shall make arrangements for the accommodation of the people who have lost their homes and residences in safe places.TAG_OPEN_li_25
The Ministry TAG_OPEN_li_23 of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and Nepal Electricity Authority shall make arrangements for the restoration of the power supply disrupted by the floods at the earliest.
TAG_OPEN_li_22 The Ministry of Information and Communications will make arrangements for the immediate operation of the disrupted telecommunications.
