Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has left for India on a three-day visit.
At the invitation of the Government of India, Finance Minister Wagle left Kathmandu for New Delhi on a flight at 7:35 am on Thursday. The main objective of this visit is to cooperate on various dimensions of economic, political and diplomatic issues between the two countries, including disaster reconstruction.
Finance Minister Wagle will meet his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman at 5 pm today. He will be the chief guest at a high-level diplomatic dialogue program to be organized by former foreign secretary Shyam Saran at 9 am on Friday.
After this, at 5 pm on Friday, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is scheduled to meet Finance Minister Wagle. At 7:30 pm, he will participate in a comprehensive meeting to be organized by Javed Ashraf, President of the India Trade Promotion Organization.
Finance Minister Wagle will be the keynote speaker at a conference with reputed industrial houses to be organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry at 9:30 am on Saturday. He will be the chief guest at an academic discussion on development economics to be organized by the Delhi School of Economics at 11:30 am on Saturday.
Wagle will return home at 4 pm on Saturday. The members of the delegation include Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Amrit Lamsal, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gehendra Rajbhandari, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi Dr Surendra Thapa, Minister for Economics Taranath Adhikari and Private Under-Secretary to the Finance Minister Kanchan Basnet.
