Finance Minister discusses various issues of automobile sector

Kathmandu. A delegation led by NADA President Surendra Kumar Uprety met with Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada. In a meeting with Dr. Swarnim Wagle, we discussed the current situation of Nepal’s automobile sector. During the meeting, Chairman Upreti expressed his best wishes for his successful tenure and said that the incumbent government is expected to bring necessary new policies and regulations to uplift the automobile sector of Nepal.

During the discussion, the minister said that the government was thinking about how to increase the revenue collection, wanted to reduce the tax rate to increase the revenue and was going to expand the scope of revenue. In this connection, Minister Wagle said that the government would take necessary initiatives to remove the irregularities, make big investment for road construction and hold discussion with NADA again regarding the upcoming budget.

During the discussion, Chairman Upreti said that there is a need to give discount on imported raw materials for the growth of Nepal’s automobile industry and although it is easy for CKD in the present situation, it is difficult for the industries. On the occasion, President Upreti said that although various automobile products like tiretube, battery, lubricants and helmets are being produced in Nepal, the government has been facing various problems as the government does not have the equipment to measure their quality. On the occasion, NADA President Upreti presented a 36-point written suggestion on behalf of NADA.

During the discussion, Karan Chaudhary, the outgoing president of NADA, said that there is a huge potential for automobile component industries in Nepal. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajan Babu Shrestha, Special Advisor of NADA, highlighted the need of investment-friendly policies and regulations for the promotion and promotion of electric vehicles in Nepal.

On the same occasion, Shrestha said that due to the reduction in GST in India, the smuggling has increased and the border areas should be tightened. On the occasion, NADA Vice President Bikram Singhania said that the government should encourage Nepali industries. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Abhik Jyoti, Vice President, Mr. Milan Babu Malla, Mr. Milan Babu Malla, Mr. Treasurer Mr. Pankaj Agrawal and Mr. Nilmani Pathak, Joint Treasurer.
