Extremely heavy rainfall forecast in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki: High alert

Kathmandu. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged the general public to adopt necessary precaution and be prepared in view of the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in different parts of the country on July 12 and Monday.

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places of the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at one or two places of the Terai region of Madhes and Bagmati provinces. Likewise, there are chances of heavy rain in one or two places of the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

In such a situation, there is a high risk of flood, landslide, erosion, mudslide and inundation in urban and Terai areas, so the NRA has requested to adopt the following precautions:

People living in landslide-prone areas and settlements on the banks of rivers should take extra precaution not to travel through rivers, streams and rivers that are prone to flash floods.

All three security bodies (Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army), local levels and volunteers should be on standby for response.

To keep dozers, excavators, loaders and other vehicles on standby to remove obstacles on risky highways and roads.

To be in constant contact with the District Disaster Management Committee and the Local Disaster Management Committee to partner organizations assisting in preparedness, preparedness and response.

The NTA has also called 1155 for information about rain and floods, 1238 for seeking help during the disaster, 100 of Nepal Police and 1114 of the Armed Police Force.

The NRA has also appealed the general public to keep informed about the updated forecast, advance warnings and warnings to be issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
