Kathmandu. U.S. President Donald Trump has cracked down on fake rescue cases and insurance scandals involving Everest climbers.
President Trump has made his process public on his official Facebook page. “Nepali police have recently prosecuted 32 people, including trekking agency owners, helicopter operators and hospital staff, as part of a major organised crime syndicate. ’
According to Trump, the so-called guide has been charged with mixing baking soda in a tourist’s food to cause severe stomach pain and mimicking a life-threatening altitude sickness. “They would then lure victims into expensive helicopter rescues,” he wrote, “forged medical and flight records and defrauded international insurance companies out of $19.69 million.” ’
Trump said climbers spend thousands of dollars on the adventure of a lifetime. “They are only deceived by people they trust to protect them,” he said. Pursuing one of the world’s biggest challenges preys on dreamers. ’
“Nepal’s Himalayan tourism is already in unstable territory because of security concerns,” Trump said. “Now this fraud makes it even more difficult for honest operators and turns the symbol of human patience into another Third World drama,” he wrote.
