Kathmandu. The Advertisement Board has not directed to remove the advertisement content that is against the law.
The Advertising Board issued a statement on Monday. The press release reads, “The audio, visual and audio-visual advertisements are being circulated through various media without obtaining approval from the Advertisement Board, the advertisements do not mention the name, address of the advertiser and the required details including the message and the advertisement is baseless, exaggerated and has been carried out with the intention of misleading the consumers.”
The Advertisement Board has jurisdiction to implement the provisions of Section 15 (b) of the Advertisement (Regulation) Act, 2076 and Rule 5 of the Advertisement (Regulation) Regulations, 2077 and accordingly the Standards Related to Advertising Broadcasting Material Testing, 2078 (First Amendment, 2080) has been approved by the Board and is in force.
The board has urged the audio, visual or audio-visual advertisement materials to be broadcast in Nepal to be broadcast only after obtaining permission from the Advertisement Board before broadcasting inside Nepal. The Board has also directed the Board to immediately examine the advertisement materials being broadcast without testing by the Advertising Board, fulfill the legal process and remove the advertisement materials that are against the law.
The board has also warned that action will be taken as per the prevailing laws if the advertisement is found violating the legal provisions.
