The relief materials currently provided include rice, lentils, chickpeas, salt, soybean, cooking oil, tea and biscuits, among other essential food items that can be preserved for a long time. These relief materials have been handed over directly to the Government of Nepal to be delivered to the affected families. The company hopes that this will help to target the relief aid to local needs and reach the communities that need it the most effectively.

As the relief work progresses, the need for utensils and materials required for cooking and food distribution in the affected communities has also been identified. Daraz Nepal is preparing to procure such items in the next phase of relief assistance based on coordination with the Government of Nepal and on-site needs assessment.

The recent devastating floods have severely affected lives, employment and livelihood, transportation and essential services in various parts of Nepal. This situation of the disaster has also put great pressure on the security personnel, volunteers, emergency rescue workers and other frontline workers involved in rescue and relief work.

Daraz Nepal believes that collective efforts will play a crucial role during such disasters and the private sector can work together with the government and communities to mobilize their resources, capacities, and access to the national disaster to make a meaningful contribution to the national disaster response.

Meanwhile, the disruption of road and transport infrastructure due to floods has also created a major challenge in logistics and delivery services in various sectors. Daraz Nepal teams are constantly monitoring and evaluating various routes and operational conditions under their logistics network. The safety of customers, vendors, delivery staff and partners is the company’s first priority.

Daraz Nepal is working in coordination with its logistics partners and relevant stakeholders for service operations and restoration where the situation is favourable and safe. However, due to the road and transportation conditions in the affected areas, there may be delays or disruptions in delivery and services for some time.

Daraz Nepal would like to express its sincere respect and gratitude to the emergency rescue workers, security personnel, volunteers and other frontline support agencies of Nepal who have been relentlessly working to provide rescue and assistance to the affected communities during this very difficult time of this disaster.

The company has pledged to continue its support even after the immediate relief phase. Once the immediate rescue and relief needs are addressed, Daraz Nepal will continue to coordinate with the Government of Nepal to identify the possibilities of contributing effectively through its resources and capacity in the field of reconstruction and rehabilitation.

“The most important thing during such a major crisis is to understand the needs on the ground and provide assistance quickly and meaningfully. We are coordinating closely with the Government of Nepal to provide much-needed relief to the affected families and communities and support the overall disaster response.” Ben Yi, Managing Director of Daraz Nepal, said, “Our responsibility does not end with an immediate emergency. We will continue to support the affected communities as they move forward as they rehabilitate.” ”
