Kathmandu. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken strict action against Dabur India.
The food regulator has directed the company to immediately sell food products that claim to be 100 per cent purity. These include organic apple cider vinegar, organic honey, homemade coconut milk, sesame oil and cow ghee. The company has also been asked to submit a report within 15 days.
Dabur’s 100% purity claims violate the Food Safety and Standards (Advertisement and Claims) Regulations, 2018. Because these claims are vague, cannot be substantiated, and are likely to confuse consumers.
The regulator said it had already issued a notice directing the company to stop making such claims.
In an Instagram post, the authority said, “Dabur has been directed to immediately stop selling all food products with false claims of 100 per cent purity and submit an action taken report within 15 days.” ’
Dabur claims 100 per cent natural, 100 per cent pure, 100 per cent purity, 100 per cent purity, 100 per cent organic and 100 per cent soft coconut water in the products listed on its website.
The authority has also accused Dabur Himalayan Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Dabur Organic honey of using the logo of Organic India. This is a violation of the Food Safety and Standards (Organic Foods) Regulations, 2017.
The regulator said the violations were related to misleading advertising claims and the unauthorized use of organic authentication.
