Co-payment and capping of health insurance services removed in flood-affected districts

Kathmandu. The co-payment and capping of health insurance services has been removed in the devastating flood-affected districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.

The Health Insurance Board has issued a circular to the health institutions providing services in the three districts informing them that the co-payment and capping have been removed. The government has declared these districts as disaster-hit areas for three months. The decision has been taken to remove the co-payment and capping for health insurance services for three months, said Dr. Pawan Kumar Sah, spokesperson of the Insurance Board.

In addition, the Board has also directed the health insurance companies to provide health insurance services by verifying the health insurance number through the IMIS-user system provided to the health providing health institutions in case they do not have health insurance identity card.

Residents of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts have been badly affected by the unexpected flood caused by the Lhende River in Rasuwa district on August 26. Rescue and relief work is still going on in the flood-affected areas.
