CNI and Statistics Office sign MoU to collaborate on National Economic Census and Research

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and National Statistics Office (NSO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collect, analyse, research and formulate credible statistics related to the country’s economy. Quality and timely statistics are essential for the economic development, industrial expansion and effective policy formulation of the country.

The agreement is in line with the National Strategy for Data System Development, a strategy to collaborate with government bodies and private sector organizations to enhance data quality by strengthening data collection, analysis and use of economic activities related to the private sector.

At a programme organized at the National Statistics Office on Monday, Office Chief Dr. In the presence of Kamal Prasad Pokhrel and CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey, Director of the Office Dr. Dr. Ved Prasad Dhakal, Director General of CNI Ghanshyam Ojha signed.

Speaking on the occasion, Pandey said that this collaboration would help strengthen the collection, analysis and utilization of economic data related to the private sector. Chief of the Statistics Office, Dr. Pokharel said that collaboration between the government and private sector in the development of data systems, improving the quality of data related to the national economy and expanding the use of data would be helpful.

According to the MoU, the FNCCI and the Office will collaborate in national economic census, development of data system in private sector, research and policy study, data exchange, capacity development, publicity and public awareness.
