Kathmandu. The government has started paying the employees within 15 days.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle initiated a programme to pay employees within 15 days of the programme. According to the Ministry of Finance, the pilot project has been implemented from Wednesday.
Finance Minister Wagle started the process of paying the employees of the Office of Auditor General within 15 days by sending payment orders to the Office of the Treasury and Financial Comptroller General through the Computerized Government Accounting System (SIGAS). With this order of the Finance Minister, the employees of the Ministry of Finance have received their salary for the first half month (15 days) of the month of Baisakh.
Inaugurating the salary payment in 15 days, Finance Minister Wagle said that the government has taken this decision to make the country’s economy dynamic. “If you pay your salary in 15 days, the market will be moving. Both consumption and demand will increase,” he said, adding, “This pilot project has been implemented for federal civil servants.” Gradually, all government salaried people get this facility. ’
On the occasion, Wagle thanked the Office of Financial Comptroller General for completing the technical preparations within 11 days of the decision and working hard to pay the salary within 15 days.
On the occasion, Financial Comptroller General Shobhakanta Poudel said that the government employees of the province and other services will also get their salaries in 15 days. Stating that his office was technically ready to pay the salary within 15 days, he said that it would be implemented gradually.
According to Poudel, under the existing system, the salary can be paid for 15 days or one month at the time when the salary is demanded from the employees. He said that paying salaries to employees on a half-monthly basis will create regular demand in the market and keep the economy moving.
Comptroller General Poudel said that it will also spread the distribution of consumption expenditure evenly and increase the cash flow of small entrepreneurs. He said that the payment of salary in 15 days is expected to have a positive impact on the service business and increase the digital economy.
On April 18, Finance Minister Wagle had decided to implement the campaign of paying salaries to government employees every 15 days as a pilot project.
