Citizens Bank signs agreement to invest Rs 7.5 billion in Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project

Kathmandu. The 50-megawatt Marsyangdibesi Hydropower Project being constructed by Dibyajyoti Hydropower has completed.

An agreement to this effect was signed by the company and representatives of finance institutions amidst a program organized at Hotel Everest in Kathmandu today. The project is being constructed on the Marsyangdi River that flows through Besisahar municipality and Marsyangdi rural municipality of Lamjung district of Gandaki state.

Out of the total estimated cost of the project at Rs 11.30 billion, a loan agreement of Rs 7.5 billion was signed under the leadership of Citizens Bank International. Of the total estimated cost, Rs 3.80 billion will be managed by the company through its own capital.

Though the construction period of the project is four years, the construction work has been initiated with the aim of completing it within the next 30 months. The electricity generated from the project will be evacuated to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Udipur substation located 8-km away from the powerhouse.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) of the project was reached between Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the company on August 23, 2018. The company had received the license from the Department of Electricity Development under the Ministry of Energy on September 17, 2017.
