KATHMANDU: Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wang Maoming held a meeting at Singha Durbar on Friday.
During the meeting, Minister Lamsal urged for Chinese support in reconstruction and development of flood-damaged infrastructures in Rasuwagadhi, reopening of Rasuwagadhi-Kerung transit point, easy mobility of around 6 lakh Nepali citizens with the state and effective operation of Korala and Tatopani border points.
Stating that Rasuwagadhi, the main trade transit point of Nepal, has been closed due to floods in Bhotekoshi, Minister Lamsal said that the government of Nepal was working day and night to provide relief to the local people by making temporary road and transportation arrangements. He said that the Chinese government’s support was necessary to bring the road from Syaphrubesi to Rasuwagadhi into operation immediately.
On the occasion, Minister Lamsal said that the government was preparing a new detailed project report (DPR) for the development of long-term road infrastructure up to Kathmandu-Rasuwagadhi and Kerung border point. He urged the Chinese government for cooperation and coordination in this regard.
During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wang Maoming said that China was ready to provide all possible support to Nepal as a good friend and neighbor of Nepal. He said that a special study should be carried out for the reconstruction and operation of Rasuwagadhi transit point, which is the main trade center of Nepal, and long-term and effective infrastructure should be built.
Ambassador Wang said the Chinese government was positive regarding the operation of Korala and Tatopani border points and expressed commitment for necessary coordination and cooperation if the Nepal government sends a special proposal regarding reconstruction and operation of Rasuwagadhi border point.
