Kathmandu. National women’s football team captain and world famous player Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba’ has undergone knee surgery.
He had intended to undergo the surgery in Qatar, but the surgery took place in Auckland, New Zealand, due to the ongoing tensions in the Gulf region. She thanked everyone who helped with the surgery and vowed to return to the field.
According to Samba, the surgery was performed by specialist doctors available in New Zealand on the advice of a specialist doctor in Dubai and Qatar.
Samba was most recently associated with New Zealand’s Wellington Phoenix Football Club. He suffered a serious knee injury while falling on the field during the match. He had to take to social media to seek help as he needed a large sum of money for his treatment. Samba’s fans from all over the world and institutional support from Nepal were also raised for his treatment.
Samba’s message, posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday morning after undergoing knee surgery, reads:
Greetings to Sampoorna,
After a long wait, I finally have knee surgery. On Wednesday morning, Dr. Simon and his team successfully performed the surgery in Auckland, New Zealand. I have undergone surgery on the advice of a specialist in New Zealand as the situation in the Gulf region is currently not normal and it is difficult to reach Qatar and Aspetar. Now, under the supervision of the doctors here, the work of my rehabilitation will start from tomorrow. As soon as the situation returns to normal, I inform everyone that I will continue in rehab aspeter. I can’t thank the Nepali family in Wellington and Auckland enough to support me in this hour of pain. My club Wellington Phoenix and my management team have worked day and night to schedule this surgery. I have embarked on the journey of comeback with the same energy from the general supporters who have always shown me support and love. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Now the focus is on the comeback.
