CAN Federation collaborates with NMDA for mobile industry development

Kathmandu. The Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Federation) and Nepal Mobile Distributors Association (NMA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Federation). The Strategic Institutional Collaboration (PPC) has been initiated to develop the mobile industry in Nepal and address existing challenges.

An important ‘Institutional Alliance Discussion Meeting’ was held between the high leadership level of both the organizations at the central office of CAN Federation in Khusibu.

The meeting focused on policy ambiguities facing Nepal’s mobile sector, challenges of mobile (grey market) coming through unauthorized channels and regulation of the overall hardware and mobile ecosystem.

Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of CAN Federation, and Raghu Tripathi, President of Nepal Mobile Distributors Association, expressed their commitment that this collaboration will create strong pressure at the state level to make the mobile market more secure, transparent and systematic.

    Institutional identity and alignment between the two working committees.

  • Future Course of Action: To prepare a long-term roadmap for joint cooperation.

Acting President of CAN Federation Chiranjibi Adhikari said that the mobile and technology sector has become the backbone of the country’s economy. He said that joint advocacy would be made against illegal import (grey market) as it has caused loss of revenue to the state and the legal entrepreneurs are suffering.

Raghu Tripathi, President of NMDA, said that the alliance with CAN Federation has given a lot of energy to the effective implementation of systems like Mobile Device Management System and practical import policy.

There was a strong presence of the top leadership from both the organizations in this momentous meeting, which indicates the seriousness of this collaboration and the strong foundation for the implementation of the future plans.

The program was attended by Acting President of CAN Federation Chiranjibi Adhikari, General Secretary, Treasurer and members of the 15th Executive Committee, President of Nepal Mobile Distributors Association Raghu Tripathi, immediate past President, Vice President, General Secretary and Treasurer.
