Kathmandu. Banks will no longer be able to force their employees to work overtime.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has amended the integrated directives issued to the banks and financial institutions (BFIs). According to the directive, banks will no longer be able to force their employees to work extra hours during office hours.
Similarly, the banks should make arrangements to provide additional remuneration to the employees as per the prevailing provision while assigning them during extra office hours.
Similarly, the banks will be compulsorily open their offices till the opening day of the Nepal Rastra Bank and the time when the banking office of the Nepal Rastra Bank opens the banking transactions. Provided that, if the banks are to conduct their business on the day and time of the opening of the Rastra Bank and other holidays, they shall inform the Department of Bank and Financial Institutions Regulation of the Rastra Bank and the concerned Supervision Department in writing.
In addition to the list of bank holidays issued by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the banks and financial institutions should keep the banking services open from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on the day the government declares an emergency holiday, cash transaction, cheque clearing, RTGS and other essential banking services.
