Kathmandu. Jhapa Constituency No. Senior leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party Balen Sah has set a new record in parliamentary history by winning from constituency 5.
Balen, who was fielded as the Prime Minister from the Rastriya Samajbadi Party (RSP), defeated CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli by a margin of around 50,000 votes from Jhapa-5. He garnered 68,348 votes while Oli garnered 18,734 votes. Balen’s vote share is the highest in the history of parliamentary elections. Because no one has ever received such a large number of votes in parliamentary history.
Earlier, in the 2017 elections, Oli had won from the same constituency with 57,139 votes. In the 2080 by-election, Chitwan Constituency No. Rabi Lamichhane was elected from constituency 2 securing 54,176 votes.
In this election, Morang Constituency No. Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) candidate Rubina Acharya won the election with 55,513 votes while Badan Kumar Bhandari won the election from Kavre-2 with 53,344 votes.
