Kathmandu. MG Motor is all set to make a big bet on the Indian SUV market. The company is launching its new flagship full-size SUV MG Majesty.
The all-new MG Magster will be launched on February 12. This SUV will be placed above the current Gloster and will target the customer who is looking for a powerful, premium and strong SUV. Even before its launch, the MG Majestier has generated a lot of buzz in the auto industry.
Look & Design
The design of the MG Majestre is largely inspired by the internationally sold Maxus D90 SUV. In front of it, there is a large grille with gloss black elements. The vertical LED headlamps and thin eyebrow-style DRLs give it an aggressive look. The black bumper and silver inserts add to the SUV’s rugged character.
The side profile features thick body cladding, dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels, black door handles and black roof rails. At the rear, the AED taillights, black bumper, silver skid plate and twin exhaust styling elements give it a premium finish.
Interior & Features{
The full interior of the MG Majestre was not revealed at the Auto Expo, but spy images suggest that its cabin could resemble the Maxus D90. It is expected to feature a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen, digital driver display and a 3-spoke steering wheel. The gear selector can be located in the steering column.
The MG Majesty will be mounted on top of the Gloster. Therefore, it is likely to provide more advanced features. The Gloster already offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, wireless charging, 12-speaker sound system, power seat with massage function and a powered tailgate. The Majesty is expected to have more premium technology.
Engine & Performance
The SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. This engine produces about 216 hp and 479 Nm of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 4WD system. Overall, the MG Majestre will be a strong contender in the full-size SUV segment in India.
How much will cost?
While it’s too early to comment on pricing ahead of launch, it can be offered at a starting price of Rs 40 lakh. The MG Majestre will compete with popular SUV models like Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
