According to the data released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the development banks of the country have earned a net profit of Rs 6.88 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year. In the review period, the profit of the banks increased by 31.78 percent compared to the previous year.

Compared to the previous year, Garima Bikas Bank was the highest earner in the review period, while Lumbini Bikas Bank was ahead in terms of growth rate.

Garima Bikas Bank has earned a net profit of Rs 1.35 billion in the first quarter of the current FY. This is 33 percent more than the previous year. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 1.01 billion in the same period last year.

Similarly, Muktinath is the second development bank to make the most profit. Muktinath has earned a net profit of Rs 1.26 billion in the review period. The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 1,050,000 crore in the same period last year. The bank’s profit increased by 20.23 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.

Shine Resunga Development Bank is in the third position. During the review period, the bank earned a net profit of Rs. 1.01 billion. The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 73.88 crore in the same period last year. The bank’s net profit increased by 37.98 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.

Similarly, Jyoti Bikas Bank earned Rs 81.61 crore, Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Rs 75.59 crore, Shangrila Development Bank Rs 60.68 crore, Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Rs 54.65 crore and Lumbini Bikas Bank Rs 52.74 crore. Compared to the previous year, Jyoti’s profit increased by 86.99 percent, Kamana Sewa by 12.93 percent, Shangrila by 7.80 percent, Mahalaxmi by 2.27 percent and Lumbini by 142.71 percent.
