Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The application for the post of chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has been rejected.
The recommendation committee led by the Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Gunakar Bhatta, has decided to scrap the entire process including the application for the appointment of the chairman of the Insurance Authority. The then committee had issued a notice on August 30, 2082 calling for applications for the appointment of the chairman of the Insurance Authority. The application was submitted to the Financial Sector Management and Corporation Coordination Division of the Ministry of Finance till September 20.
The then government had formed a three-member committee under the coordination of Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Prof Dr Shivaraj Adhikari. Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay is a member of the committee while Dr Khatiwada is an expert member. Khomraj Kharel.
After the cancellation of the application of August 14 last year, the committee formed under the coordination of Bhatta will now forward a new process for the appointment of the chairman of the Insurance Authority. The committee comprises Ghanashyam Upadhyay as a member and Fatta Bahadur KC as an expert member.
Who applied before?
Earlier, 14 people had applied till the last day of the call for applications. Ghanashyam Budhathoki (Lalitpur), Bikrant Pandey (Kathmandu), Paras Kafle (Bhaktapur), Bishnu Babu Mishra (Kathmandu), Buddha Kaji Shrestha (Kathmandu), Dr Damodar Basaula (Kaski) and Chintamani Shiwakoti (Kathmandu) have filed their candidacies for the post of chairman of the Insurance Authority.
Similarly, Dr Gyanendra Adhikari (Jhapa), Dev Kumar Dhakal (Morang), Prof Dr Deepak Bahadur Bhandari (Lamjung), Dr Rajendra Pandit (Kathmandu), Yagya Prasad Neupane (Dang), Ramesh Kumar Bhattarai (Kathmandu) and Maheshwor Neupane (Bhaktapur) had also applied for the post of NRA chairperson.
Currently, Secretary Chandrakala Poudel is the chairperson of the Insurance Authority.
