Kathmandu: The general insurance companies have collected above Rs. 15 billion in insurance premiums by the end of the first five months of the current financial year 2079-80. According to the data published by the Nepal Insurance Authority, the 18 general insurance companies have collected Rs.15 billion 977 million.
General insurers have issued 11,47,264 insurance policies. In the month of Mangsir alone, these companies issued 2,28,126 insurance policies and earned a total insurance fee of Rs. 2 billion 619.9 million.
According to the Authority, Shikhar Insurance Company tops the chart with Rs. 1.54 billion total insurance premiums income within five months of the current FY. The state-owned general insurer, Rastriya Beema Company, earned Rs.1 billion 347 million and stood at second position during the review period. Sagarmatha Insurance Company earned Rs. 1 billion 294 million while Neco Insurance collected Rs. 1 billion 278.5 million. Siddharth Insurance Company stood in fifth position with Rs. 1 billion 135 million and Himalayan Everest Insurance achieved the sixth position with Rs. 1 billion 102.5 million total insurance premiums income within the last five months.
