Kathmandu: The family members of Nepali migrant workers will soon be included under health insurance policy of Government of Nepal.
The Health Insurance Board(HIB), the state authority to manage health insurance program, has stated that is has already taken necessary actions to include the family members of Nepali migrant workers.
The HIB has recently approved the ‘Procedure to Include the Family Members of the Nepali Migrant Workers in Health Insurance Policy-2021’ as stated by Health Insurance Act-2017. The new procedure will be implementation in coordination with the Ministry of Labor.
The procedure has the provision that each person aspiring for foreign employment has to submit the identity of their family members while applying for work permit.
