Kathmandu. More than 87,000 cylinders of cooking gas have been brought to Kathmandu through alternative routes in the last three days after the road collapsed at Krishnabhir of Dhading along the Prithvi Highway.
According to Nepal Oil Corporation, 87,877 cylinders have been brought to Kathmandu from factories based in Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhanusha and Mahottari districts. According to NOC Spokesperson Manoj Thakur, 24,494 cylinders were imported to Kathmandu on September 3, 34,134 on September 2 and 29,249 on September 3.
The NOC has been supplying petroleum products and LP gas to Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas by alternative route following disruption of major highways.
On August 30, when the road was blocked at Krishnabhir on the Prithvi Highway due to the erosion of Trishuli, tankers and gas bullets carrying fuel were stopped on the way. Immediately after this, the corporation made arrangements to bring the gas cylinders filled to Kathmandu by using an alternative route.
The corporation has directed the gas industry to regularize the refilling and transportation even on public holidays to facilitate the supply of gas. – RSS
