Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A total of 19 commercial banks listed in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) have published their financial statements for the third quarter of the current fiscal year. Currently, Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) is not listed in NEPSE.
According to the financial report, 20 commercial banks have earned a profit of Rs 49.21 billion till mid-April of the current fiscal year. Last year, 2081. The commercial banks had earned a net profit of Rs 41.25 billion till mid-April 2018. The profit of the banks increased by 19.30 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.
Banks will distribute dividends to their shareholders on the basis of profit. The results for the third quarter have been significant in terms of dividends for shareholders.
Of the 19 commercial banks listed in NEPSE, only six have achieved double-digit dividend payouts. Among them, Everest Bank has the highest dividend potential. As of the third quarter, Everest has a dividend yield of 31 percent.
Along with Everest Bank, Nabil Bank, Sanima Bank, Standard Chartered, Nepal SBI Bank and Global IME Bank have the ability to distribute double digit dividends.
Similarly, there are 7 banks with less than 10 percent dividend capacity. Machhapuchchhre Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Siddhartha Bank, NMB Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, Nepal Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank are among the banks that have the capacity to distribute single-digit dividend by mid-April.
Looking at the results of the third quarter, the remaining 6 commercial banks listed in NEPSE are yet to distribute dividends.
