Kathmandu. About 4 dozen applications have been received for the post of chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal. According to the Ministry of Finance, 47 people have applied for the post of president till 5 pm today.
The deadline for submission of the application was 5:00 pm today at the secretariat of the recommendation committee headed by Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Gunakar Bhatta. The committee had opened the application on April 29 giving seven days’ time.
According to sources, professionals with experience in various fields are aspiring to become the chairman of the Securities Board. “In the past, the appointment of the chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) was based on the allocation of political parties,” said a source. Many professionals from other political backgrounds have applied for the post of president. ’
According to sources, Executive Director of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Binay Dev Acharya and former Executive Director Dr. Nawaraj Adhikari have filed their nominations for the post of chairman. The rest of the candidates are Purushottam Raj Chimoria, a former official of the Nepal Rastra Bank, Gopal Bhatta, who has worked in merchant banks, financial institutions and various regulatory bodies.
The Ministry of Finance is preparing to publish the list of aspirant candidates soon.
