$300 million worth of property damage caused by typhoon in Vietnam

Kathmandu. The Vietnamese government said Typhoon Bualoi caused an estimated 8 trillion dong ($303 million) worth of property damage this week.

About 170,000 houses were damaged or inundated by the floods, according to Vietnam News on Wednesday.

Bualoi made landfall in north-central Vietnam on Monday. At least 29 people have died and 22 are missing, according to a report by the disaster management agency.

The storm caused severe damage to roads, schools and offices. There has been a failure in the electricity grid. Tens of thousands of households have been left without electricity. About 34,000 hectares of rice and other crops have been destroyed.

The report did not mention any major damage to industrial property.
