General insurers’ premiums collection surge by 5.97 to NPR 36 bn

Kathmandu: General insurance companies collected above NPR 36 billion by the end of the first 11 months of the current financial year 2079-80. According to Nepal Insurance Authority, 14 general insurers collected NPR 36 billion 198.8 million.

The total insurance premium income surged by 5.97 as compared to the same period of last FY 2078-79. The total premiums income of general insurers was NPR 34 billion 158.3 million.

Shikhar Insurance remained at the top position with NPR 4.76 billion total insurance premiums income during the evaluation period. Similarly, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance recorded the second-highest total premiums income. The insurer collected NPR 4 billion 88.6 million.

Siddhartha Premier Insurance, which started its integrated business on Jestha 17, 2080, earned a total insurance fee of NPR 4 billion 17.4 million. This is 11.10 percent of the total insurance premiums collected by non-life insurance companies.

During this period, United Ajod Insurance earned NP 3.14 billion, Himalayan Everest earned NPR 3.6 billion, IGI Prudential earned NPR 3.1 billion, Neco earned NPR 2.66 billion, and Rastriya Beema Company earned NPR 2.26 billion.

National Insurance Company recorded NPR 900.75 million total premium income during the evaluation period of the current FY which is the lowest among general insurers.
