Kathmandu: The aviation industry witnessed two major Heli crashes in a row within two days. The Heli Everest’s 9N-AMB crashed on Sunday morning following the crash of Air Dyansty’s 9N-ANA on Saturday.
The cargo-loaded 9N-AMB crashed on Sunday morning while ferrying cargo from the Italian base camp to the Dhaulagiri base camp. Pilot Priya Adhikari survived the crash. Similarly, The 9N-ANA met an accident at HAMS Hospital, Madikhatar at take off. The pilot survived the crash. Officials said that the accident took place amid the malfunctioning of the tail rotor blade.
Both of the choppers are insured by Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company(Salico). Salico has a re-insurance arrangement with Nepal-re and AON Insurance. The sum assured of the 9N-AKG is USD 8,00,000 while USD 23,00,000.
Bishwonath Adhikari, the information officer of Salico, informed us that surveyors have been appointed for the assessment of the damages caused by the heli-crash.
Salico has 0.25 percent retention while Nepal Re has retained 0.75 percent of the sum assured, the rest is shared by global re-insurers under the lead of American reinsurer, AON Insurance.
