Kathmandu: Nepal Police nabbed a gang of frauds involved in cheating the family of the deceased ex-pat Nepalese workers. Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Control Office of Nepal Police informed press media that seven men including a junior-level employee of the Foreign Employment Board were nabbed in a special operation.
According to the details provided during a press meeting on Friday, the accused are Pashupati Adhikari, a non-commissioned employee of the Foreign Employment Board, Ram Bahadur Tamang Kavre, Binod Kumar Lama Sarlahi, Dik Bahadur Malla, Rabin alias Rabindra Moktran, Prakash Bahadur Gole, Rudraman Gole.
Police officers informed that Adhikari was involved in fraud providing official documents of the deceased to make death claims on behalf of the victim’s family. The police got a tip from one of the victims who could not receive full compensation as announced by the Foreign Employment Board.
The Workers Welfare Fund under the Board has an arrangement of providing financial compensation NPR 7,00,000 to the dependent or the family members of the deceased ex-pat who lost their life during their job abroad or at home within one year from the date of return from the job.
