Kathmandu: The insurance premiums income of general insurance companies has been adversely affected by the restriction in the import of vehicles and downfall of the industrial production. The 18 insurers have earned Rs.2.51 billion in the month of Kartik 2079 contrary to the average monthly insurance premium of Rs.3 billon.
Shikhar Insurance has earned Rs. 250.3 million with a share of 9.95 among the 18 general insurance companies. Sagarmatha Insurance, which is in the second position has earned Rs. 201.6 million insurance premiums. Neco Insurance has earned Rs. 201.4 million in the month of Kartik.
Siddharth Insurance Company stands at fourth position with insurance premium income Rs. 180.6 million. Himalayan Everest, formed after the merger of Everest and Himalayan, has earned insurance premiums of Rs. 176 million.
NLG Insurance has collected 106.9 million while Lumbini Insurance has 106.3 million insurance premiums income. IME General has earned 162.8 million while Ajod Insurance adds Rs.146 million, Premier Insurance 124 million insurance premiums. Similarly Sanima General has earned Rs.116 million, Nepal Insurance Rs. 115.7 million. The Oriental has earned Rs. 106.4 million insurance premium.
Rest of the companies have not been able to earn at least Rs.100 million in Kartik 2079. According to the data unveiled by the Insurance Authority, by the month of Kartik of the current financial year 2079-80, the general insurance companies have earned a total of 13.35 billion insurance premium.
