Kathmandu: The Health Insurance Board(HIB) has yet to pay above Rs. 1.5 billion to the listed health institutions that are providing health services to the insured under the Health Insurance Scheme. The HIB, which has not been able to settle claims on time for long amid lack of enough funds and workforce, is now settling the long pending claims.
Since last Bhadra, the HIB has paid Rs. 3.33 billion to health institutions for full and partial claims. According to the decision of the meeting of Board of Directors held on Ashoj 14, HIB has released Rs.66 lakh 81 thousand on Ashoj 24.
HIB has shown interest in claim settlement after the major health institutions across the country threatened the it to stop the healthcare service delivery to the insured.
