Kathmandu. The Karnali Province Government has offered disaster risk group insurance to it 1.77 million citizens. The province government has insured them with the state-owned non life insurer Rastriya Beema Company.
The insurance will provide claim up to Rs. 200,000 in case of death of any citizen due to natural calamities or disasters. In case of death due to earthquake, flood, landslide, fire, snowfall, road accident etc., the family members of the deceased will get the claim. Under vehicle accident; if a passenger dies in a vehicle accident due to a natural disaster, the benefit of death benefit will be available.
Such insurance has been provided for the last three years under the ‘Disaster Risk Collective Insurance’ program prepared under the concept of insurance expert Sukalyan Parajuli. The province government has paid Rs.15 million as premium for the insurance coverage.
