Kathmandu. The Insurance Board(IB) is mulling to adopt the provincial concept for the first time under is organizational structure. Almost after 7 years of the the establishment of provincial state structure in Nepal, the IB has made preparation to adopt the same under its organizational structure to deliver services and supervise the insurers.
It has received approval for 18 new posts for recruitment for the establishment of three provincial offices viz Sudurpaschim Province, Karnali Province and Madhesh Province. The Ministry of Finance has sanctioned 6 posts for each of the three provincial offices of the regulatory authority. One provincial office will have one deputy director, two assistant directors, one in information technology and two first assistants. All the provincial offices will be headed by the Deputy Director.
For the time being, the provincial office will be run by the existing staff of the IB. Spokesperson of the IB and executive director Rajuraman Poudel informed that advertisements will be called for new recruits in the near future considering the provincial office as well. The IB has already written to the Public Service Commission to fill the required manpower for recruitment.
The IB will send the staff of the provincial office with delegation of authority. Chairman Surya Prasad Silwal has informed that a blueprint for the purpose has been prepared for this. The provincial offices will regularly inspects the branch and the offices of the insurance companies within their geographical jurisdiction.
