General Insurance improves profitability despite decline in insurance premium income

Kathmandu: General Insurance Company Limited’s net premium income has declined by 25.26 percent during the the first quarter of the Fiscal Year 2078/79 as compared to the corresponding period of last FY.

The company had earned net premium of Rs. 97.5 million in the corresponding period of the last FY. The company has earned net premium of Rs.72.80 million in current FY.

The company has a reserve fund of Rs 104.7 million. During the period, the insurance fund of the company is Rs.128 million. The company had Rs 62.9 million in its insurance fund in the corresponding period of the last FY.

The company’s net profit is 61 percent higher than the same period last fiscal year. The company’s net profit for the period is at Rs. 38.3 million while it was Rs. 23.7 million in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

Similarly, the company has paid Rs. 26.8 million in net claim during the first quarter. Net claim payments surged by 62 percent.
