Kathmandu: The federal government has announced relief to farmers affected by the recent heavy rainfall, floods and landslides.
Making public the decision of the Thursday’s cabinet meeting, government’s spokesperson and Information Technology Minister Gyanendra Karki said that the cabinet has decided to provide relief to the farmers on the basis of the actual loss occurred.
The cabinet has decided to provide maximum of 65 percent relief to the farmers who have up to 10 kattha of land in case of complete crop damage. A maximum of 30 percent relief will be distributed to the farmers who have land from ten kathha to three bighas.
For farmers with more than 3 bighas and partial loss, relief up to a maximum of 20 percent of the loss amount will be provided.
he farmers will be compensated equal to the production cost on the basis of the minimum support price set by the Government of Nepal for crops.
