Birgunj: A conference of young women entrepreneurs has been organized in Birgunj on Friday evening in collaboration with Nepalese Young Entrepreneur Forum (NYEF) Birgunj and Ladies Circle Nepal.
Addressing the conference, which was held for the first time in Birgunj, Minister for Energy and Drinking Water of Province 2, Omprakash Sharma, said that economic development of the country could not be imagined without economic empowerment of women.
Minister Sharma pointed out the need for policy reform and planning to advance young women in entrepreneurship. He also assured to facilitate the women entrepreneurs of Province 2 in alternative energy production.
Speaking on the occasion, Subodh Kumar Gupta, president of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the association has been cooperating in the promotion of women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship.
Central Chairman of NYEF, Udeep Shrestha, said that NYEF has taken initiative to take the youth forward on the issue of youth entrepreneurship. NYEF Women Entrepreneur Chairperson Sahara Joshi said that the initiative of young women in enterprise business has not been as expected.
Chairman of NYEF Birgunj Anup Agrawal expressed confidence that the conference organized for the first time in Birgunj would encourage women entrepreneurs. Agarwal said that the interactive conference between successful and startup entrepreneurs will encourage new entrepreneurs or those who want to take the lead in entrepreneurship to move forward.
On the occasion of the conference, 80-year-old woman entrepreneur Bhagwati Agrawal has been honored. During the conference, interactions on women’s active participation in the economy and experiences of women’s entrepreneurship were also exchanged. The conference was attended by more than 100 women entrepreneurs.
